The deck skill·AI tool
My team makes on-brand decks now without pulling me in.
The problem
We made a lot of decks at the studio. The big ones like fundraising and sales decks were worth building by hand, because the story is what carries them.
Then there are small ones:
- casual meeting decks
- quick pitch decks
Each one of them came to me since I was the only designer. People built them in Figma, Google Slides, or with AI, and when the result didn't come out as expected, they asked me to fix it.
It ate my focus. 1 to 2 hours of context switching a day pulled me off product and design work, and it kept adding up.
What I built
AI makes a deck easy to start. A good deck is still hard: consistent layout, minimal design, and clean copy across every page. That part is hard for non-designers to get right.
I found the pattern in our best decks. I gathered the AI decks people had made and the finished ones the team was happy with, then pulled out what they shared:
- layout and structure
- theme and style
- tone of the copy
I turned the pattern into a deck skill. It works like a small design system for decks. I installed it on everyone's Claude and ran one short training.
When I become the bottleneck, I spend a day removing myself instead of paying for it every week.
